Are you interested in Black Heritage? Would you like to set up a heritage walk in your area? Or do you already have a walk and want to become part of the network?
We provide bespoke training for any individual or group who is interested in setting up a walk in their community. Our training is provides the tools and building blocks to develop a walk, regardless of ethnic background

Black Heritage Walks Network CIC will be the Birmingham partner for the delivery of a national PAC 45 80th Anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of Nkrumah book Last Stages of Imperialism, taking place in October 2025.
A major new mural celebrating the roots and activism of Benjamin Zephaniah is to be unveiled in Handsworth Park on Sunday 14th April 2024. Commissioned by Black Heritage Walks Network (BHWN) and completed by internationally renowned artist Bunny Bread founder of Create Not Destroy, the work celebrates Zephaniah's stature as ‘The People's Champion’
This arts project features the legacy of Birmingham's treasured poet and activist Benjamin Zephaniah, who sadly passed away on 7th December 2023, aged 65.
Benjamin was a British writer, dub poet, actor, musician and professor of poetry and creative writing. He was included in The Times list of Britain's top 50 post-war writers in 2008. The heritage program features the many 'faces' of Benjamin Zephaniah during his lifetime as :-
Spring is here and the days are getting warmer but the 'cost of living crisis 2023' still continues.
We have teamed up with Legacy West Midlands, Birmingham City Council and local providers to ensure that our most vulnerable communities are supported throughout this crisis. We now have two BAME social welfare hubs Edgbaston and Highgate, which form part of our overall Hub & Spoke health outreach strategy in the areas surrounding our regular walks.
Taiba Aqeel is currently a student at Aston University, studying Bsc History and Politics. She has a strong desire to learn more about underrepresented history, as well as a very keen interest in the Heritage sector.
Black Heritage Walks Network has been commissioned to lead a season of guided heritage tours on behalf of The World Reimagined.
The World Reimagined will bring trails of over 100 large globe structures in seven cities across the UK from 13 August – 31 October 2022. The sculptures will be created by artists to bring to life the reality and impact of the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans and invite the public to engage with the dialogue and actions of making racial justice a reality.
